Here are details about the photos below (and something to read while they are loading)...

1. Our annual "ski trip" to Sunriver with Barr, Terry, Judith and Peter included a nice hike along the Deschutes River.

2. In June, during a weekend at the coast with Jerome and Vicki, we enjoyed a hike through the old growth forest near Yachats.

In May, Janet was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy and radiation treatment over the summer and is now feeling back to normal. We are deeply appreciative of the love and support shared by friends and family.

With the approval of her doctors, we were fortunately able to travel to Wisconsin and Britain as we had planned.

3. Here's sunset off the dock at the lake in northern Wisconsin where we stay with Janet's family.

4. Luke and Lee's visit is a high point of each summer. Luke's latest book is Dogs Don't Bite When a Growl Will Do.

5. Another good year with a great crew at the Oregon Country Fair.

6& 7. And another fun trip on the Rogue River (and thanks to Terry for the photo). Janet was unable to go but my brother Ken accompanied me and snapped this photo of Mule Creek Canyon, one of the coolest places on the river (and in the world).

8. Speaking of special places, the summer would not be complete without a trip to Waldo Lake.
